East Sea Coast Guard's Special Crackdown on 'Origin Labeling Violations' of Japanese Seafood

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The Coast Guard is launching a special crackdown on violations of origin labeling for Japanese seafood in relation to Japan's decision to discharge contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean.

According to the Donghae Coast Guard Station on the 19th, they will crack down on acts such as disguising and distributing or selling Japanese seafood as domestic products, and mixing seafood from third countries like China and Russia with Japanese seafood for sale.

In addition, they plan to identify major import, distribution, and sales companies of Japanese seafood and conduct joint inspections with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, local governments, and others.
