Gyeongnam Province Launches New Material and Component Business Development to Foster Local Industries

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 19th that it will conduct the 'Gyeongnam Materials and Components Industry New Business Demand Survey' to discover new projects in the materials and components industry sector within the province.

Gyeongnam Province aims to enhance the competitiveness of its core industries by discovering about five new projects through preliminary planning and ultimately promoting detailed planning for about three projects.

Participants include companies, universities, research institutes, associations, and organizations.

Proposals should include convergence projects (such as R&D and workforce development) with a project scale of over 10 billion KRW, including infrastructure establishment and industrial support plans.

The proposals will be finalized around the end of May through interviews with the Gyeongnam Materials and Components Industry New Business General Planning Team and the Gyeongnam Materials and Components Industry New Business Selection Committee.

The province plans to foster related regional industries through preliminary and detailed planning thereafter.

This year's new business themes include materials and components projects supporting and activating carbon neutrality, functional materials and components projects related to COVID-19, non-face-to-face response information electronics, bio and biomedical fields, large-scale materials and components projects feasible as joint projects for the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region, and other materials and components projects contributing to the advancement of Gyeongnam's core industries and the creation of new industries.

This demand survey is conducted by the Korea Institute of Materials Science with joint participation from Gyeongnam TP.

Detailed information can be found on the websites of Gyeongsangnam-do, Gyeongnam TP's promotional section, and the Korea Institute of Materials Science.
