'10 Years of Experience, Envisioning MICE Innovation' ... Busan City Hosts the 10th Busan MICE Festival

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan MICE Festival, a grand festival in the fields of exhibition, tourism, and conferences, will open for three days from April 21 to 23 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Busan MICE Festival, which was first held in 2012. Every year, it has introduced new trends in the domestic and international MICE industry, proposed development plans, and contributed to the growth of the MICE industry by collaborating with Busan-area MICE companies.

Hosted by Busan City and jointly organized by Busan Tourism Organization, BEXCO Co., Ltd., Busan Economic Promotion Agency, Busan Tourism MICE Promotion Association, and Busan Convention Industry Association, this event carries the theme “Drawing the Innovation of Busan MICE with 10 Years of Experience.”

Due to COVID-19, the event will be operated in a newly introduced hybrid format. MICE industry professionals and convention center officials from the southeastern region of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam will participate directly to explore ways to expand business areas and coexistence strategies in the MICE sector and prepare for a new leap forward.

Starting at 10 a.m. on April 21 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2, a special lecture will be given by Song Gil-young, Vice President of Vibe Company and a big data expert who appeared on shows such as “Ssulzun” and “Non-Summit.” At 2 p.m., a variety of events will commence.

▲ Opening Ceremony ▲ Talking about Southeastern Region MICE (Gadeok New Airport and MICE Industry) ▲ Busan City MICE Industry Promotion Council ▲ Biz Talk Talk, Convention Centers Now! (Centers’ COVID-19 Response Strategies, etc.) ▲ MICE, Stories Beyond (Sharing Cases of Non-Face-to-Face Events) ▲ Busan MICE Alliance Regular Meeting ▲ Future Strategy Roundtable ▲ Youth MICE Camp ▲ Fair Trade Workshop ▲ Night of MICE Professionals and other diverse events will be held over three days as “MICE WEEK” to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary.

In particular, the “Talking about Southeastern Region MICE” session will feature presentations on the role of Gadeok New Airport, which connects Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, and heated discussions among experts in the MICE industry, aviation, and tourism sectors, discussing the expansion and future of the southeastern region’s MICE industry.

During the event, education for exhibition and convention planners to nurture MICE professionals will be conducted, promotional videos of MICE companies and award-winning works from content contests will be screened, and booths for Busan tourism souvenirs and the 2030 World Expo promotion will also be operated.

Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, expressed his anticipation for the event, saying, “I hope this will be a new turning point and a stepping stone for innovative growth for the MICE industry and Busan’s MICE sector, overcoming the difficulties of COVID-19.”

Busan City will operate a continuous quarantine system throughout the event space for three days, including thermal detectors and disinfection gates (full-body disinfection) at the entrance, and Tornado (space disinfection). They will also ensure safety through QR code contactless entry and participant number restrictions.
