[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 19th that it has created an Eco Zone in Seoul Forest Park in collaboration with the non-profit foundation Seoul Green Trust, which preserves green spaces in Seoul's living areas and creates a pleasant urban environment.

The Eco Zone is Shinhan Card's sustainable ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) project that creates healthy parks in urban areas by utilizing Eco Donation Points accumulated by green consumers practicing eco-friendly lifestyles using 'Shinhan Card Deep Eco' and green campaign funds donated by Shinhan Card.

Eco Donation Points are points accumulated when using the Deep Eco card, launched by Shinhan Card in October 2019. When 1,000 points or more are accumulated, they are donated monthly to Seoul Green Trust and used to create Eco Zones. In particular, the green mobility campaign conducted last year, which donates a certain amount upon electric vehicle sales, also helped fund the Seoul Forest Eco Zone.

Key officials, including Moon Dong-kwon, Head of Shinhan Card's Management Planning Group, and Lee Han-ah, Secretary General of Seoul Green Trust, attended the Eco Zone event held at Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

The first Eco Zone, opened this time, was created as a linear green space covering about 1,300㎡ from the Path of Contemplation to the Family Yard within Seoul Forest Park. It features native tree species, especially those with excellent air purification effects, adding a unique character to the Eco Zone.

Starting with the Seoul Forest Eco Zone, Shinhan Card plans to continuously create Eco Zones tailored to the necessary functions of each region.

A Shinhan Card official said, "We hope the Eco Zone project, which continuously creates urban parks nationwide, will establish itself as an eco-friendly park operation model and accompany customers' eco-friendly lifestyles. Based on Shinhan Financial Group's ESG strategic directions of 'environmental friendliness,' 'coexistence,' and 'trust,' we will actively carry out various ESG and social contribution activities."
