Governor Kim Young-rok Encourages COVID-19 Response Officials During Visit to Damyang County


[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 18th, Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok visited the Damyang area, where 12 COVID-19 cases were confirmed, to hear about the current situation and response measures and to encourage the officials involved.


Despite it being a holiday, Governor Kim visited Damyang and said, "The prompt response, including mass testing of all residents and public officials, stood out in this serious situation that could lead to a large-scale outbreak." He also promised, "We will support 500 million won in provincial funds for the construction of a public-type isolation and protection facility proposed by Damyang County today."


He also delivered 30,000 masks for the residents and offered words of encouragement to the officials who have been working hard on quarantine efforts day after day.


From the 14th to the 18th, Damyang County confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases and set up temporary screening clinics in 11 myeon (townships).


The county conducted proactive mass testing targeting public officials and residents to block community spread and is responding swiftly by identifying infection routes through rapid in-depth epidemiological investigations.
