[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] From now on, it will be possible to check and pay unpaid highway tolls using the mobile navigation app 'T-map'.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 18th that from the 19th, users will be able to check unpaid tolls via T-map and make immediate payments through credit card or bank transfer.

To this end, the Expressway Corporation signed a service provision agreement with T-map Mobility Co., Ltd. on the 15th. T-map has a total of 18.5 million subscribers.

Payment of unpaid tolls, which was mainly done at highway toll booths and rest areas, will be expanded to mobile, providing a more convenient highway toll payment service for customers who prefer non-face-to-face civil service processing in the COVID-19 era.

The Expressway Corporation plans to provide 100 Hi-pass devices and 300 fuel vouchers (30,000 KRW each) through a lottery for users during the first month after the service launch to promote service usage.

Lee Sangheon, Director of Road Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "We will continue to expand non-face-to-face payment services to enhance toll collection convenience and accessibility, as well as strengthen quarantine measures in response to COVID-19."
