[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] Former Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Son Hyewon criticized six senior Democratic Party lawmakers with four or more terms on the 16th, who stated that "first-term lawmakers should sincerely listen to the opinions raised as a reflection on the election defeat and actively incorporate reasonable content into the party's policy direction," calling it "the Democratic Party of Korea, truly a case of things getting worse."
On the same day, former lawmaker Son shared an article on her Facebook in which senior Democratic Party lawmakers declared, "If there is blame to be taken, we senior lawmakers will take greater responsibility," and made the remarks.

She continued, "I remember back in 2015, when there was a rush of defections as if the Red Sea had parted," and questioned, "Am I the only one who feels the reality of the Democratic Party is becoming even more bleak as I see these people?"
Earlier, six senior Democratic Party lawmakers? No Woongrae, Byun Jaeil, Ahn Gyubaek, Ahn Minseok, Lee Sangmin, and Jung Sungho?issued a statement on the 15th, saying, "As senior members of the party, we deeply feel responsible for the results of the April 7 by-elections and sincerely reflect on our failure to properly put the brakes on drifting away from public sentiment."
