Gimhae City Holds 'Agreement Ceremony' with 8 Organizations Participating in Happiness Community Building Project

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 16th that it held a signing ceremony with eight organizations selected for the '2021 Gimhae Happy Community Creation Project.'

The Happy Community Creation Project is a unique initiative of Gimhae City. It aims to create a virtuous cycle structure by generating continuous jobs through projects where residents voluntarily form and promote communities to generate profits. Now in its fourth year, it supports eight organizations with 180 million KRW.

Especially this year, various projects are being promoted in fields such as environmental efforts targeting carbon neutrality, mediation of resident conflicts, production of tofu, jeonggwa, Makgeolli, and cheese using local specialties, and real-time broadcast sales at traditional markets.

The selected organizations are Gimhae YWCA, Geumgwan Gaya Cooperative, Hyangchon Conflict Mediation Center Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, Content Community Cooperative, Sambang Village Management Social Cooperative, Sigumteolteol Cooperative, and Hoehyeon Yeonga Cooperative.

A Gimhae City official said, "We hope that the Happy Community Creation Project will serve as a catalyst, and that the organizations signing the agreement will develop into social enterprises or village enterprises, thereby revitalizing our city's social economy."
