Establishment of 'Gwangju Welfare Platform' for Customized Welfare Policies by Life Cycle in Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City is establishing the ‘Gwangju Welfare Platform,’ where customized welfare policies for each life cycle can be viewed in one place.

On the 15th, Gwangju held a kickoff meeting for the ‘Gwangju Welfare Platform Construction Project’ in the city hall conference room, attended by about 20 welfare field workers and experts, sharing the main functions and implementation schedule of the welfare platform.

The Gwangju Welfare Platform construction project is a project that integrates and provides information such as welfare resources, services, and related statistics to enhance citizens’ awareness of welfare policies.

In June 2019, the Gwangju Innovation Promotion Committee under the mayor proposed 70 innovation tasks in four major areas for the ‘Establishment of the Gwangju-type Welfare Model.’ In December, the welfare innovation promotion plan was finalized, and detailed tasks are being promoted through discussions with the Welfare Innovation Advisory Committee and the Welfare Innovation Implementation Private Council.

As part of establishing the Gwangju-type welfare model, the Gwangju Welfare Platform plans to provide various welfare information for welfare demanders and lay the foundation to systematically analyze welfare demand and supply using big data.

The Gwangju Welfare Platform is scheduled to undergo pilot operation in August and provide services to citizens starting in September.

Park Hyang, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of Gwangju City, said, “We will create a demand-centered welfare platform that makes it easy for users to access welfare information so that no citizen misses out on appropriate services due to lack of information about Gwangju’s various welfare policies.”
