[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Professor Bae Jin-yong (Department of Electric Vehicle Control, College of Energy Convergence) at Dongshin University has attracted attention by developing the battery rapid discharge technology essential for electric vehicle repair for the first time in Korea, transferring the technology to a venture company, and donating the compensation received as scholarships for current students.
According to Dongshin University on the 15th, Professor Bae registered the patent for "Electric Vehicle Battery Rapid Discharge Device and Discharge Method" in Korea on December 14 last year.
Electric vehicles using high-voltage batteries must have their batteries discharged before repair to ensure the safety of workers.
Although various electric vehicle battery discharge devices have been created so far, Professor Bae is the first in Korea to develop rapid discharge devices and technology.
With this technology development, repairs, scrapping, and battery replacement of electric vehicles can be done more safely and quickly, and battery damage caused by discharge is minimized, enabling recycling.
In January, Professor Bae transferred the patented technology to a venture company specializing in electric vehicle repair and maintenance in the Jeonnam region, and among the compensation received from two recent patent technology transfers including this one, he donated 10 million KRW as scholarships and university development funds for Dongshin University students.
Professor Bae said, "I will devote more effort to nurturing experts in the future transportation equipment field and developing the latest technology in preparation for the electric vehicle era."
Meanwhile, the Department of Electric Vehicle Control, Department of Energy Mechanical Equipment, and Department of Renewable Energy in the College of Energy Convergence at Dongshin University are conducting a local innovation project in cooperation with local governments in the future transportation equipment field, accelerating the nurturing of experts and development of the latest technology in preparation for the electric vehicle era.
