KOSPI Surpasses 3200 During Session, Fluctuates Amid Foreign and Individual Buying [Image source=Yonhap News]


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] The KOSPI has surpassed the 3200 mark again after about three months. Active buying by foreigners and individual investors is driving the KOSPI upward.


According to the Korea Exchange on the 15th, the KOSPI was trading at 3,192.25 at 10:57 a.m., up 0.32% compared to the previous trading day. The KOSPI started the day at 3,180.73 points, down 1.65 points (0.05%) from the previous day, but rose thanks to net buying by foreigners.


By investor type, individuals and foreigners are net buyers of 181.8 billion KRW and 118.5 billion KRW respectively, while institutions are net sellers of 308.6 billion KRW.


Most sector indices are rising. Non-metallic minerals, steel and metals, construction, telecommunications, and services are showing gains of over 1%, while textiles and apparel, pharmaceuticals, distribution, and securities are declining.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Kakao surged 7.59%, LG Electronics rose 4.02%, and Hyundai Mobis increased 1.61%.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ is trading at 1,010.93, down 3.57 points (-0.18%) from the previous day.


Individuals are net buyers of 125.3 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 94.5 billion KRW and 18.7 billion KRW respectively.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Genexine (-3.23%), Alteogen (-1.51%), HL Biopharma (-1.13%), and Celltrion Pharm (-0.90%) are declining.


Yumi Kim, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, said, "The domestic stock market is expected to experience a short-term differentiated market by stock."
