Digital Transformation, Smart Manufacturing... Customized Training Programs for Regional Key Industries
Human Resource Development Vision Ceremony... Cultivating Future Talent Leading the Next-Generation Industrial Revolution
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Kwon Chil-seung, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) and the Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 14th that they have established the Chungcheong Training Institute in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, and held an opening ceremony.
SBC began construction of the Chungcheong Training Institute in 2017 to provide region-specific customized workforce training and strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises. The total project cost is 32.5 billion KRW, with a site area of 24,587㎡ and a building area of 11,892㎡.
This year, the Chungcheong Training Institute will operate 46 training courses across five fields to enhance the digital transformation and smart manufacturing capabilities of SMEs and startups. In particular, it plans to lead the cultivation of specialized personnel by opening training courses related to the bio industry, a key industry in the Chungcheong region and a future new growth sector.
Considering factors such as the number of manufacturing workers in the Chungcheong region, it is expected to meet the annual training demand of more than 5,000 people. It is also equipped with an online lecture and webinar studio to respond to non-face-to-face education. This is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for local SMEs and startups in training.
Additionally, the Chungcheong Training Institute plans to nurture on-site personnel for digital innovation of SMEs and startups by establishing a Smart Factory Learning Center. Trainees can practice collecting, storing, and analyzing manufacturing data through production equipment made for training purposes, experiencing the production process of model cars applying AI, big data, and virtual reality technologies.
At the opening ceremony of the Chungcheong Training Institute on the 14th, Chairman Kim Hak-do is presenting a new vision for workforce development in small and medium venture businesses.
At the opening ceremony, a vision declaration for SBC’s workforce training project was also held. A new vision titled "Cultivating Future Talent for SMEs and Startups Leading the Next Industrial Revolution" was presented, along with three major talent development goals: smart innovative talent, problem-solving creative talent, and communicative collaborative talent.
Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC, said, "The Chungcheong region is a hub for people and transportation as well as a key area for the national economy. SBC will play a pioneering role in leading digital innovation in manufacturing sites by nurturing future talent to drive growth in regional key industries and supporting capacity building."
Meanwhile, since opening the Small Business Training Institute in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province in 1982, SBC has served as a leading institution for workforce development for SMEs and startups, providing training in technology, management, quality, and policy fields to more than 1.5 million entrepreneurs and employees.
