UK Dyson "Hiring 450 Engineers This Year"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] British home appliance company Dyson, famous for its vacuum cleaners, announced on the 13th (local time) that it will hire 450 new engineers this year, according to the US economic media CNBC.

Dyson plans to add 200 employees at its Dyson Campus in the UK and 250 employees at its headquarters in Singapore. These personnel will be engaged in research in innovative fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, high-speed digital motors, and sensing technologies.

Dyson currently employs about 1,400 people in Singapore, half of whom are engineers and developers.

This recruitment is part of a global technology investment plan involving an investment of ?2.75 billion for research in advanced robotics and AI.

Founder James Dyson explained, "We plan to strengthen our research and engineering teams that can dramatically improve the performance of our products based on battery and robotics technologies."

Previously, Dyson announced that it would abandon its electric vehicle launch project and utilize the battery technology acquired during the electric vehicle manufacturing process in other fields.

To target the Asian market, Dyson relocated its headquarters from Wiltshire, located in the west of England, UK, to Singapore in 2019.

At the time of the headquarters relocation announcement, CEO Jim Rowan stated, "Singapore is a place where it is easy to build supply chains and professional manpower connecting the world, making it the hub for Dyson's future technology development," and added, "We will expand the size of the Singapore research team to twice its current scale."
