[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House stated that President Moon Jae-in's order to conduct an inspection regarding allegations that Jeon Hyo-gwan, the Cultural Secretary, engaged in preferential treatment of work while serving in the Seoul Metropolitan Government is an appropriate measure.


A senior Blue House official, when asked by reporters on the 14th about the unusually swift order for inspection by President Moon, responded, "I do not think it is unusual. Isn't it proper to ascertain the facts? I believe it is an appropriate measure."

The senior Blue House official added, "President Moon believes that issues related to the morality of public officials should be handled more strictly. The position of the concerned secretary will be revealed through the inspection."


Earlier, Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok stated, "President Moon immediately ordered the Chief of Civil Affairs to conduct an inspection regarding the allegations of preferential treatment of work by Cultural Secretary Jeon Hyo-gwan during his tenure at the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the verbal abuse by Kim Woo-nam, Chairman of the Korea Racing Authority, to thoroughly verify the facts and take swift and decisive action."
