Youn Yuh-jung, nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for the film 'Minari,' departed on the 13th (Korean time) to attend the ceremony. Her agency, Hook Entertainment, stated on the 14th, "She was officially invited by the Academy as a Best Supporting Actress nominee," and added, "She boarded a flight to Los Angeles yesterday to attend the ceremony on the 26th."

Through her agency, Youn expressed, "Please understand that I am departing quietly to minimize the impact of COVID-19," and conveyed her gratitude, saying, "I sincerely thank everyone who has shared in my joy each time I have won an award."

She said, "Since it is not about ranking five actors in a single work, just being nominated feels like winning an award," and added, "I am grateful to be invited to and participate in this grand festival of filmmakers worldwide."

She continued, "As a senior in the Korean film industry who has opened the door, it would be an even greater joy if Korean actors can gain more recognition globally and enter the international market in the future."

'Minari' is nominated in six categories at this year's ceremony, including Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture, Best Director (Lee Isaac Chung), Best Original Screenplay (Lee Isaac Chung), Best Actor (Steven Yeun), and Best Original Score (Emile Mosseri).
