[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in has ordered an investigation into the allegations of 'preferential treatment' involving Jeon Hyo-gwan, the Cultural Secretary, and the verbal abuse by Kim Woo-nam, Chairman of the Korea Racing Authority, which were raised in the media.


Kang Min-seok, the Blue House spokesperson, stated on the 14th, "President Moon instructed the Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs to immediately conduct an investigation into the allegations of preferential treatment by former Secretary Jeon during his tenure at Seoul City and the verbal abuse by Chairman Kim, to thoroughly verify the facts and take swift and decisive action."


According to the media, former Secretary Jeon is suspected of awarding contracts worth 5.1 billion won to a company he founded while working as the Innovation Planning Officer at Seoul City. Additionally, Chairman Kim, a three-term lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea, reportedly caused controversy by verbally abusing an employee who tried to dissuade him from hiring his close aide as an executive at the Korea Racing Authority.
