Nostalgic 'Holman' Becomes LG Uplus Social Contribution Ambassador

Nostalgic 'Holman' Becomes LG Uplus Social Contribution Ambassador

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] The nostalgic character 'Holman' has now become the public relations ambassador for LG Uplus's social contribution. Holman, which gained tremendous popularity in the early 2000s, was revived last year after 18 years and has recently been attracting attention by stimulating the analog sensibilities of the 2030 generation.

On the 14th, LG Uplus held an appointment ceremony for Holman as a public relations ambassador at its Yongsan headquarters in Seoul. The purpose is to raise the interest of the MZ generation in sharing activities by leveraging the familiar character and to respond to the strengthening of ESG management, a social concern. MZ generation employees who personally recommended Holman as the ambassador also attended the event.

The character Holman was LG Telecom's own brand character launched in 2001 targeting teenagers. Thanks to its cute appearance reminiscent of a snowman and the friendly setting of having transferred from another school, it gained great popularity at the time. Holman, which disappeared as the feature phone era ended, reappeared last year in the second half through Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms after 18 years.

In particular, last month, Holman attracted attention by donating all 48 million won earned since resuming activities. Being appointed as a public relations ambassador for the Community Chest of Korea, Holman was evaluated as a truly splendid revival.

This appointment as a public relations ambassador was also promoted to enhance the ripple effect by adding Holman's ‘positive influence’ to LG Uplus's sharing activities. LG Uplus plans to carry out social contribution activities in collaboration with Holman. In addition to introducing sharing activities to the general public, they decided to strengthen the connection between Holman and MZ generation employees to increase participation. Special efforts will be made to establish a culture of sharing targeting the MZ generation.

Holman, appointed as the public relations ambassador, said, “I am grateful to LG Uplus for remembering Holman and appointing me as the public relations ambassador,” and added, “I will continue the positive influence by donating all the profits earned as an advertising model in the future.”

Baek Yongdae, head of LG Uplus CSR team, said, “Holman, who donated all the profits, was actively recommended by LG Uplus employees, leading to the appointment as a CSR public relations ambassador,” and added, “We will carry out various social contribution activities with Holman together with the MZ generation in the future.”
