[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The U.S. Department of State announced on the 13th (local time) that John Kerry, the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, will visit South Korea and China.

The State Department stated that Special Envoy Kerry will visit Shanghai, China, and Seoul from the 14th to the 17th.

The State Department explained that during his visit to China and South Korea, Special Envoy Kerry plans to discuss the agenda for the climate change summit hosted by the White House, which will be held virtually on the 22nd and 23rd.

Since Special Envoy Kerry is visiting China, it is expected that Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the upcoming climate change summit.

If President Xi attends, public attention will also focus on the possibility of a meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and President Xi.

Last month, the White House invited 40 world leaders to the climate change summit, and President Xi was included among the invitees.
