[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will accept applications for damage support funds for transportation workers who are experiencing difficulties due to the management difficulties of transportation operators caused by a decrease in the number of passengers and transportation revenue due to the spread of COVID-19 from the 12th to the 23rd, for a total of two weeks.
Since early last year, the decrease in the number of passengers and transportation revenue due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation has increased the deficit scale of most village bus companies in Seoul, which has led to adjustments in the number of operations due to vehicle reductions, worsening transportation inconveniences for residents day by day.
In this situation, the damage support fund, which is paid to transportation workers whose livelihoods are threatened due to worsening employment conditions such as reduced labor costs and delayed wages caused by prolonged financial difficulties, will be paid to those who have worked as village bus transportation workers in Seoul for more than three months as of the Seoul city announcement date (’21.4.12.), with 500,000 KRW paid per transportation worker.
The application method is principally by village bus company, and applicants can visit the Seongbuk-gu Office Traffic Administration Division to apply or apply online via the reception desk e-mail listed in the announcement.
Village bus companies that receive the damage support funds must individually pay the support funds to their transportation workers by the designated deadline.
For submission of related documents and other detailed matters, inquiries can be made through the reception desk for each operator (Seongbuk-gu Office Traffic Administration Division 2241-3402).
Going forward, Seongbuk-gu will continue to cooperate with village bus companies and others to ensure that residents can use public transportation without inconvenience through the payment of this damage support fund to transportation workers.
