Travel as Daily Life, Daily Life as Travel: See, Feel, and Experience It Yourself
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 12th that it is recruiting participants for Jeollanam-do's experiential travel project, "Traveling in Namdo for a Month," until the 23rd.
"Traveling in Namdo for a Month" is a project that encourages tourists to visit by directly experiencing the charms of various places in Jeollanam-do and promoting them on SNS. Suncheon City was selected as a project site through Jeollanam-do's public contest application last month.
The city plans to secure diversity and reliability of travel information by having program participants post their experiences along with video materials on SNS such as YouTube, blogs, and Instagram, instead of the existing supplier-oriented tourism promotion and marketing.
With the increase in interest in domestic travel instead of overseas travel reduced due to the spread of COVID-19, travel content is operated to allow small groups such as families, couples, and friends to stay in one place, experiencing the unique tastes and styles of the region through camping, car camping, and more.
Anyone aged 18 or older who lives in the Gwangju-Jeonnam area and wishes to travel to Suncheon, where they have no prior experience, can apply. Preference will be given to travel writers, artists active on regional themes, famous bloggers, YouTubers, and influencers who can actively promote Namdo's tourism content.
Project participants can receive support for up to 7 days to 30 days, with daily allowances of ▲up to 70,000 KRW for accommodation, ▲up to 20,000 KRW for transportation, ▲up to 30,000 KRW for meals, and ▲up to 20,000 KRW for tourism expenses (admission fees, experience fees, etc.). They can directly see and feel the taste and style of Suncheon through various tourism programs such as urban, rural, and nature experience programs, and Suncheon Hansang cuisine.
Participants are assigned tasks such as posting travel reviews including accommodation and experiences on their personal SNS during the travel period, producing a promotional video for Suncheon tourism within 3 minutes, or posting the "Suncheon City *Chinankkae!" placard campaign on SNS.
Chinankkae is Suncheon's three major civic movements meaning Kindness, Safety, and Cleanliness.
Applications must be submitted by the 23rd via email or mail to the city's Tourism Division along with the application form and travel and promotion plan.
A city official said, "It is an excellent opportunity to stay long-term in Suncheon, the ecological capital of Korea, enjoying the pristine natural environment and food, resting and healing while making memories. If you felt regret over short trips of one or two days, we hope you take time to stay for more than seven days, discovering hidden spots and immersing yourself in the beauty of Suncheon."
