[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government announced on the 11th that it will accept applications for the '4th Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund' of up to 1 million KRW per person from the 12th until 6 p.m. on the 21st. This is targeted at special-type workers (teukso hyeongtae geunrosangsa, teukgo) and freelancers who did not receive the 1st to 3rd support funds.
If the support requirements are met, such as income reduction due to COVID-19, a maximum of 1 million KRW will be paid in a lump sum after screening is completed in early June.
Applicants must meet both the qualification and income reduction requirements to receive the support fund. They must have earned at least 500,000 KRW as teukgo or freelancers in October to November of last year, have an annual income of 50 million KRW or less in 2019, and have experienced a 25% or more decrease in income in February or March compared to the reference period. The income comparison period can be chosen from one of the following five: February and March of last year, October and November of last year, or the monthly average income of 2019.
From 9 a.m. on the 15th to 8 p.m. on the 21st, on-site applications will also be accepted. Applicants can visit the employment center in charge of their residence or workplace with their ID card, bankbook copy, and supporting documents. On the 15th and 16th, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, applications will be operated on an odd-even system based on the last digit of the birth year.
Kim Youngjoong, Director of Employment Policy at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, emphasized, "We hope that this 4th support fund will help stabilize the livelihoods of teukgo and freelancers even a little. Please make sure to apply within the application period, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor will do its best to ensure smooth support."
For more detailed information, please check the call center or the Ministry of Employment and Labor website's announcement on the 4th support fund project.
