[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A 'Real Doll Experience Room' in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City has sparked controversy.
According to JoongAng Ilbo on the 9th, a 20-something office worker, Mr. A, recently found a flyer at a bus stop near Migeum Station in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, with phrases such as 'Offidoll Cleanliness' and 'Real Doll Experience 1 hour 25,000 KRW.'
This 'Real Doll Experience Room' is known to have been operating for nearly a year near the entertainment district close to Ori Station in Bundang-gu. It is a business that rents out adult products called 'real dolls,' which are modeled after the human body, charging by the hour.
The problem is that within a 1 to 2 km radius of this experience room, there are apartment complexes and high schools. Nearby residents have continuously expressed discomfort, citing reasons such as "Since the adult business is located near a station with good accessibility, it is embarrassing as students might see it," and "The atmosphere of the building has become gloomy since the real doll experience room opened."
However, there is currently no legal basis to regulate this type of real doll experience room. Because real dolls are not actual people, even if a rental business is conducted, it is difficult to regulate under laws that control sexual acts or similar acts involving monetary transactions. Therefore, the discomfort of nearby residents is expected to continue.
