[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] On the afternoon of the 7th, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 8th that it had signed a business agreement with ‘Social Campus On Gwangju’ (Social Enterprise Growth Support Center) to promote and revitalize social enterprises.
This agreement was promoted to carry out joint projects for the practical promotion of social enterprises through mutual exchange and cooperation between the two organizations.
According to the agreement, Gwangsan-gu will promote the resident companies of ‘Social Campus On Gwangju’ to Gwangsan-gu residents, including mobile app WalkOn subscribers.
‘Social Campus On Gwangju’ agreed to provide financial support and cooperate in the use of space for the social economy one-day class project targeting WalkOn challenge achievers.
In addition, the two organizations plan to engage in other social enterprise promotion and revitalization support projects.
The first joint project is to promote the ‘Social Economy One-Day Class with WalkOn.’
WalkOn is a walking app with about 14,000 Gwangsan-gu residents subscribed. When WalkOn users complete a challenge of walking a certain number of steps, they can experience one-day classes such as rice cake cake making and succulent art provided by local social enterprises for free.
After a two-week walking challenge starting this month, the one-day classes will be held over two days next month. Citizens who have joined the walking app will directly experience and promote the classes themselves, attempting a promotional method to raise awareness of social enterprises.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, “Through this agreement, we expect to provide practical help to social enterprises struggling due to COVID-19 and create a good synergy effect that can spread social values to citizens.”
Meanwhile, ‘Social Campus On Gwangju’ is a Social Enterprise Growth Support Center operated with the budget of the Ministry of Employment and Labor. It supports initial startup companies with residential space, education, mentoring, and fosters social entrepreneurs, helping them enter (preliminary) social enterprises.
