By the 30th, for residents of about 20 villages adjacent to forests
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) announced on the 8th that it will conduct emergency fire extinguisher training in forest fire vulnerable areas until the 30th.
The training targets residents of about 20 forest-adjacent villages, including Seongnae Village in the jurisdiction.
The emergency fire extinguisher is a facility that anyone in the community can use to suppress a fire in its early stages before the fire truck arrives in case of a fire outbreak.
It is also effective for initial fire suppression in areas where fire trucks have difficulty entering, such as traditional markets and densely packed commercial areas, or locations far from fire stations.
This training includes ▲ guidance on how to use the emergency fire extinguisher ▲ management tips for the emergency fire extinguisher ▲ water spray demonstration and water spray experience.
Choi Byungbok, head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, said, “We will do our best to establish a resident autonomous fire suppression system that can protect villages from forest fires through continuous education and training for residents in forest fire vulnerable areas.”
