[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) provided 2.7 million KRW on the 8th, giving 1 million KRW each to 27 local children's centers facing operational difficulties due to increased workload from emergency care implementation and quarantine measures amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Local children's centers have been conducting emergency care since early last year to minimize care gaps despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
Accordingly, Eunpyeong-gu plans to provide emergency operating funds to facilities striving to care for children despite challenging circumstances such as proactive COVID-19 testing and regular on-site disinfection, to be used for quarantine-related and program operation expenses.
A representative of a local children's center stated, "The role of the center in childcare has grown due to COVID-19, and we are very grateful that they are recognizing our difficult situation and providing support."
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "I thank the workers and center directors who continue to strive for the healthy growth of children despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, and I hope this support will be of some help to local children's centers struggling with operations due to emergency care."
