[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Democratic Party of Korea, which holds an absolute majority in the Seoul Metropolitan Council, congratulated Mayor Oh Se-hoon on his inauguration and stated, "We humbly respect the solemn choice of the citizens of Seoul." Among the 109 council members, 101 belong to the Democratic Party of Korea.


On the 8th, the Democratic Party of Korea in the council issued a statement saying, "Together with the mayor, we will fulfill our duties for the happiness, safety, and livelihood stability of Seoul citizens," adding, "While maintaining the council’s fundamental role of checking and monitoring the executive branch, we will avoid confrontational political disputes and actively cooperate where necessary for Seoul’s future, making our best efforts to quickly stabilize city administration."


They also referred to Mayor Oh’s catchphrase, "Skilled from day one," saying, "We firmly believe that his past administrative experience will serve as a valuable foundation for Seoul’s development."


At the same time, they emphasized the need for a partnership based on communication and cooperation with the council. The Democratic Party of Korea in the council stated, "As he returns with renewed determination, we expect that Seoul can achieve genuine progress by learning from past failures," and added, "We hope that the communication breakdowns and stubbornness shown in the past will be set aside, and that a partnership based on communication and cooperation with the council will be embraced."
