[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that County Governor Kim San participated in the ‘National Together for Overcoming Low Birthrate Po(4)ham Relay Challenge’ on the 6th.

Started in Chungnam Province, this challenge is a citizen participation campaign aimed at overcoming the national crisis caused by low birthrate through solidarity and cooperation, and actively joining in creating a ‘Korea where we work together, care together, protect together, and are happy together.’

In Muan-gun, various policies are being promoted to overcome low birthrate and encourage childbirth, including easing the criteria for childcare support, supporting medical expenses for infertile couples, supporting high-risk pregnant women, creating a forest for the birth of twins, and providing interest support for newlywed couples and multi-child families’ homes.

Also, this year, care services have been expanded for families raising children under 12 years old, and a research project on a mid- to long-term comprehensive plan for Muan-gun’s population policy is being conducted to systematically discover and promote population policies in the future.

Governor Kim San emphasized, “Last year, the birthrate in our country was 0.84. According to a research report, if this continues, Korea will disappear from the Earth by the year 2750,” and added, “To overcome the low birthrate problem, we all need to recognize the seriousness and work together.”

Meanwhile, Governor Kim San designated Kim Dae-hyun, Chairman of the Muan-gun Council, and Kim Ran, Director of the Muan Education Support Office, as the next relay participants.
