[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in sent a letter congratulating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the commencement of commercial operation of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1.

Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok stated on the 7th, "President Moon sent a letter to Crown Prince Mohammed congratulating the UAE on the ‘50th anniversary of its founding’ and the start of commercial operation of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1."

Spokesperson Kang explained, "President Moon praised the UAE for its continuous innovation and development since its founding, congratulated the successful Mars orbit insertion of the Mars probe ‘Amal’ in February, and expressed hope that the Dubai Expo scheduled for October this year will be a great stage showcasing the UAE’s bright future."

President Moon congratulated the commencement of commercial operation of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 on the 6th, mentioning his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed at the completion ceremony of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant construction in March 2018.

In particular, President Moon emphasized that the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant is an icon of UAE innovation and a symbol of friendship between the two countries. He also wished for the successful progress of Units 2, 3, and 4.
