The on-site inspection was conducted to directly observe the COVID-19 response situation due to concerns that the infection could spread locally after 20 confirmed cases occurred consecutively since the 4th at experiential medical device sales stores and medical institutions.
Since the 5th, the province dispatched an immediate response team to Suncheon City to trace the movements of confirmed cases and quickly isolate additional contacts, conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation.
In particular, diagnostic tests were conducted on 1,435 close contacts. The test results showed 20 positive and 1,415 negative cases.
Governor Kim said, “Just as Suncheon City has responded well to COVID-19 so far, we must ensure that not a single person is missed,” and added, “If it is difficult to locate individuals, please cooperate with the police and respond promptly.”
He continued, “Residents who have symptoms such as fever, cough, muscle pain, or suspect infection must promptly get tested at the health center screening clinics,” and urged, “Please establish a thorough quarantine network so that Suncheon residents can vote with peace of mind in the by-election to be held on the 7th.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province plans to urgently inspect quarantine measures by the 9th at about 80 experiential medical device sales stores in the area and conduct frequent joint inspections by city and county authorities on multi-use facilities such as local clinic physical therapy rooms, bathhouses and saunas, fitness centers, and beauty salons.
