Reapplication Deadline in 5 Days... Former Vice Minister Jeong and Others Apply
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Jeong Seung-il, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is reportedly the leading candidate for the new president of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 6th, KEPCO's executive recommendation committee began procedures such as document screening after multiple applicants registered following the re-application deadline the day before.
KEPCO initially held the recruitment for the new president until the 26th of last month, but extended the application period until this day as there was only one applicant. Jeong, the former vice minister, was reportedly the sole applicant during the first recruitment.
Jeong, originally from Seoul, graduated from Kyungseong High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration. He passed the 33rd Administrative Examination and began his public service career in 1990 at the Ministry of Power Resources. He has held key positions in industry, trade, and resources, including Director of the Semiconductor and Electrical Division at the Ministry of Industry, Director of Energy Industry Policy, Director of Free Trade Agreement Policy, Director of Trade and Investment, and Director of Energy Resources.
