[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] After publicly apologizing for the inter-floor noise controversy, the singer couple Ryu Philip and Mina, as well as the neighbor who had revealed suffering from the noise, appealed to "stop any further speculative criticism against Ryu Philip and Mina."
On the 4th, the couple posted on the YouTube channel 'Philmina TV' bulletin board, stating, "We apologize to those who may have been greatly inconvenienced by us."
They said, "Of course, we want to visit the downstairs neighbor to ask for forgiveness, but since they do not wish to have a conversation, we will express our feelings and be careful until they forgive us over time."
They added, "The downstairs neighbor asked us to 'let the child sleep comfortably.' We will always be quiet until their anger subsides."
They also expressed, "I am very ashamed and sorry that I only now realize the seriousness of the situation," and "I was pathetic for not taking the security office's notification seriously."
Earlier, a post titled "Celebrity couple living upstairs causing too much inter-floor noise" was uploaded on an online community. The author wrote, "The singer Mina and her husband Ryu Philip live in the apartment above me," and "They shout loudly, sing, play drums or use a treadmill late at night around 1-2 a.m., causing serious noise on average 3-4 times a week until late at night."
The author continued, "I contacted the security office, and during this Lunar New Year holiday, they sent a note asking for understanding because they were busy with work," and "I am also an office worker, so I need to sleep late at night to go to work. Even my child over two years old wakes up crying because of the noise," they appealed.
Netizens criticized the couple, saying, "They really have no consideration," "Double standards, do they think neighbors don’t have jobs?" and "You only understand inter-floor noise when you experience it yourself."
After the couple’s apology was posted, the author edited the post on the morning of the 5th. The author wrote, "When I stepped outside my door to go to work in the morning, the man from upstairs (Ryu Philip) was in front of the house," and "I was in a hurry to go to work, so I couldn’t talk for long, but he said he came to apologize."
He wrote, "I am leaving this post here hoping there will be no further controversy," and "We are not people trying to gain any other benefits from this incident. At least after 9-10 p.m., we just want to live quietly without stress from loud noise like other residents in general apartment buildings."
He added, "The man said he will be careful from now on, so I hope it will be like that at least during nighttime," and emphasized, "Lastly, I hope the speculative criticism against the upstairs neighbors will stop."
Below is the full apology from the couple Ryu Philip and Mina.
We apologize to those who may have been greatly inconvenienced by us.
Of course, we want to visit the downstairs neighbor to ask for forgiveness, but since they do not wish to have a conversation, we will express our feelings and be careful until they forgive us over time.
We briefly exchanged greetings with the downstairs neighbor. They asked us to let the child sleep comfortably. I do not think that brief conversation today fully expresses my feelings.
It is a reasonable request. We will carefully express our feelings until their anger subsides. We fully recognize the current situation and will be quiet in the evenings.
Below is the full revised post by the inter-floor noise whistleblower on the morning of the 5th.
Hello, this is the author.
When I stepped outside my door to go to work in the morning, the man from upstairs was in front of the house. I was in a hurry to go to work, so I couldn’t talk for long. He said he came to apologize.
I am leaving this here hoping there will be no further controversy.
We are not people trying to gain any other benefits from this incident. Some say we want money or are trying to exploit celebrities, but we have no such intentions and do not plan to make a living from this.
What we sincerely hope and ask for is just this one thing: at least after 9-10 p.m., we want to live quietly without stress from loud noise like other residents in general apartment buildings.
The thumping noises heard during the daytime often happen unintentionally. We also have a baby, so when the baby runs outside the mat, we scold them and feel sorry to the downstairs neighbors.
The man said he will be careful from now on, so I hope it will be like that at least during nighttime. We will also be as cautious as possible.
Lastly, I hope the speculative criticism against the upstairs neighbors will stop. We thank many people who have shown interest in our inter-floor noise issue.
Have a good day. Thank you.
