Gwangju Dong-gu, Four Startup Support Teams Selected for the 'Social Entrepreneur Development Project'


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 2nd that four teams participating in the Dong-gu Social Economy Startup Consulting Support Project were finally selected in the ‘2021 Social Entrepreneur Fostering Project’ contest hosted by the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency.


This evaluation selected a total of 616 teams nationwide after document screening, in-depth interviews, and face-to-face evaluations from hopeful social entrepreneur teams across the country.


The Social Entrepreneur Fostering Project is a program that discovers individuals with the qualities and passion for entrepreneurship as social entrepreneurs and supports the entire process of social enterprise startup, from realizing social public interest goals to commercialization.


To connect Dong-gu startup teams with this contest project, Dong-gu discovered six teams wishing to apply for the Social Entrepreneur Fostering Project in January and conducted a total of 23 one-on-one intensive consulting sessions and two mock face-to-face interview trainings until mid-last month.


The finally selected teams are four startup teams: ▲ ‘Supegreen Cooperative’ producing handmade natural soap centered on multicultural women ▲ ‘Geumnam Underground Shopping Mall Small Business Social Cooperative’ supporting small business programs such as flea markets in Geumnam Underground Shopping Mall ▲ ‘BZero’, a zero-waste subscription service business reducing discarded waste ▲ and ‘Sijeom’, a cafe-type art gallery supporting young artists. According to the performance evaluation results, they will receive support ranging from 10 million won to a maximum of 50 million won.


Director Im Taek said, “I congratulate the teams selected in this contest through Dong-gu’s full consulting support,” and added, “We will continue to provide multifaceted support so that startup teams can solve local problems and further grow sustainably to create jobs.”
