[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] China strongly opposed the U.S. country-specific human rights report that pointed out human rights issues in the Xinjiang and Hong Kong regions, calling it "interference in internal affairs."
Hua Chunying, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing on the 31st, "The United States has no qualification to criticize China's human rights issues," and added, "American politicians need to wake up from the 'Truman Show.'
The Truman Show is a black comedy film about a protagonist who believed he was living a perfect life but was actually living a completely fabricated and controlled fake life.
Spokesperson Hua said, "The U.S. ranks behind Hong Kong in both freedom index and rule of law rankings, experiences racial discrimination and police violence in many places, and has recorded the highest number of gun incidents in history," adding, "They babble under the pretext of so-called human rights, but in reality, it is something that does not fit."
She continued, "The claim that genocide exists in Xinjiang based on lies from anti-China forces is an insult to the Chinese people and a violation of the basic rules of international relations," and said, "China's ethnic minority policies are much better and fairer than those of the U.S."
Spokesperson Hua emphasized, "No country or individual has the right to say that another country has committed racial crimes," and "No country should recklessly use this accusation in international relations."
Regarding Hong Kong issues such as the enactment of the National Security Law and election system reform, she said, "These are institutional measures to ensure the stable development of 'one country, two systems' and to maintain Hong Kong's long-term stability," adding, "The lives of Hong Kong citizens will become happier and the prospects for development will become brighter."
Spokesperson Hua made it clear that the Xinjiang and Hong Kong issues are China's internal affairs, and urged, "The United States should manage its own affairs well while respecting international law and the basic rules of international relations," and "Stop interfering in China's internal affairs in any way."
