Busan City, ICT-Based Renewable Energy O&M Platform Construction Project
Total 1.2 Billion KRW Investment, Pioneering New Model for Power Resource Management
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A new platform for managing solar power generation resources will be established in Busan.
Busan City (Acting Mayor Lee Byung-jin) announced on the 31st that it was finally selected for the "ICT-based Renewable Energy O&M Platform Construction Project" in the 2021 National Contest for Regional New Energy Industry Activation Support hosted by the Korea Energy Agency.
The "ICT-based Renewable Energy O&M Platform Construction Project" is a project proposed by a consortium consisting of Busan City, Nuritelecom, and two local companies.
With a total project cost of 1.2 billion KRW (300 million KRW national funds, 300 million KRW city funds, 600 million KRW private funds), the plan is to build a new platform to maintain and manage solar power generation resources owned by private businesses in the Busan area more professionally and systematically.
Busan City plans to link the existing Renewable Energy Integrated Operation Center with the newly constructed "O&M platform" to monitor field information in real time, detect abnormal situations in real time, and implement functions such as predicting component replacement cycles.
The city plans to demonstrate maintenance-related matters by linking the O&M platform with a total of 10 solar power plants, including four cooperative-type solar power facilities (generation capacity 400 kW) newly constructed and six private solar power facilities.
After the project is completed, Busan's private businesses owning solar power plants will be provided with services to use the platform.
Acting Mayor Lee Byung-jin of Busan said, "With the attraction of this project, Busan is expected to discover new business models related to renewable energy, a future clean energy, and will continue to foster energy-related industries such as new industries to realize a clean energy city Busan."
