[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) has completed the recent design competition for the Sadang 3-dong Community Center, which was completed over 30 years ago, and is now embarking on full-scale construction.
The Sadang 3-dong Community Center (86 Sadang-ro 17-gil), completed in 1991, has long faced resident demands for a new building due to aging facilities and limited space. In response, the district has been promoting reconstruction since 2019.
After passing the Seoul City investment review last year and gathering residents' opinions on preferred facilities, the design competition was completed earlier this month. Once the detailed design is finalized by the end of this year, construction will begin, aiming to open by the end of 2023.
The new Sadang 3-dong Community Center will be built on the current site, with a total floor area of 1,867㎡ (from basement level 1 to 5 floors above ground), increasing the size by more than 1,000㎡ compared to the existing center.
In particular, to create a resident-friendly community center, the plan includes significantly expanding spaces for residents such as an underground parking lot, resident autonomy program rooms, a small library, a multipurpose room, and a large auditorium.
From the planning stage, the district conducted two rounds of 'Resident Hope Facility Surveys' and included local residents in the 'Sadang 3-dong Community Center Reconstruction Advisory Group' to actively reflect residents' demands.
For inquiries related to the project, please contact the Autonomous Administration Division for guidance.
Choi Hwan-bong, head of the Autonomous Administration Division, said, “Through the reconstruction of the Sadang 3-dong Community Center, we will do our best to improve the aging facilities and significantly expand the convenience facilities desired by residents, so that it can be reborn as a public institution like a friendly neighbor.”
