[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 31st that it will begin recruiting tenants for 128,653 households across 375 public housing sites nationwide from next month until March of next year.
The calendar introduces the supply schedule not only for public rental housing but also for public sale housing such as Newlywed Hope Towns and publicly supported private rentals.
In Seoul, tenants will be recruited for 6,792 households across 55 sites.
Public rental housing is preparing tenant recruitment announcements for 4,540 households across 46 sites. This includes national, permanent, and other public rentals (1,211 households) such as Godeok Gangil, and Happy Housing (3,329 households) such as Seoul Suseo KTX A2. Gangseo Apartments (175 households) will be supplied as Newlywed Hope Towns optimized for newlywed couples.
Seventy-three percent (38 sites) of the public rental housing supplied in Seoul will be Happy Housing, allowing long-term stable residence at rents 60-80% lower than market prices.
Public sale housing will supply 590 households in three locations including Daebang Apartments in Seoul as Newlywed Hope Towns.
Publicly supported private rental housing plans to supply 1,662 households across six sites including Seoul Yangwon (331 households) and Seoul Gongneung (195 households). Publicness has been further strengthened by guaranteeing residence periods of over eight years and limiting initial rents.
In the Gyeonggi and Incheon regions, tenant recruitment is being prepared for 72,702 households across 148 sites, and in other regions such as Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Jeolla, for 49,159 households across 172 sites.
Applications can be made through websites or on-site registration according to tenant recruitment announcements by public housing operators such as Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH), Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH), and Gyeonggi Housing & Communities Corporation (GH). On the 'My Home Portal,' applicants can check the types of public housing suitable for their income and assets in advance.
Kim Hongmok, Director of Housing Welfare Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, explained, "In addition to the public housing calendar, we will strengthen accessibility to housing welfare through providing public rental information in collaboration with private companies such as Dabang and Jiptos, and expanding the installation of local government housing welfare centers."
