[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jung] The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (Director Jeong Eun-kyung) announced on the 30th that, in response to the expansion of COVID-19 vaccination eligibility and the resulting surge in related inquiries, it will operate an emergency call center system between central and local governments through collaboration among related agencies and local governments, centered on the 1339 call center.
The central call center staff consists of 310 personnel at the KDCA 1339 call center working in six shifts to provide 24-hour consultation, and approximately 600 personnel from related agencies' call centers, including the National Health Insurance Service, will support consultation inquiries.
The local call center staff, including the 120 call center and local government public health centers, will prioritize supporting vaccination consultations with about 1,000 personnel, and each local government will continuously expand consultation staff to prevent any disruption in consultations.
The central call center operates integrally through '1339' ARS option 2 (COVID-19 vaccination) to provide comprehensive consultations on vaccination eligibility and procedures, vaccine safety, adverse reaction response guidelines, compensation standards, and more.
However, for specialized consultations regarding vaccine safety, separate consultations are conducted through the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety call center (1577-1255), and in case of emergency patients due to vaccination, urgent transport to medical institutions is arranged via 119 emergency calls.
Local call centers provide information on vaccination schedules and locations, vaccination center operating hours, and adverse reaction monitoring through each local government's call center (area code + 120) and public health centers.
Additionally, vaccination-related questions can be resolved through the 'COVID-19 Vaccination Website (Homepage) - Frequently Asked Questions.'
Jeong Eun-kyung, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, stated, "We will thoroughly prepare to ensure that the public does not experience any inconvenience regarding vaccination inquiries."
