[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Gas Co., Ltd. has stepped forward to gift a 'forest' to children who find outdoor activities difficult due to COVID-19 and fine dust.
SK Gas announced that starting next month, it will conduct the 'Eco Pointree' promotion at 256 SK Gas LPG filling stations nationwide for customers who join the Happiness Recharge membership.
The 'Eco Pointree' promotion, meaning 'Planting Pointree with SK LPG,' is an upgraded version of last year's 'Triple Challenge.' While the previous promotion allowed customers to purchase one box (20 bottles) of 500ml bottled water for 2,990 OK Cashback points when refueling over 20,000 KRW on the same day, this year it added a pack of six 240ml canned coffees as a purchasable product. Additionally, 10% of the points used to buy these products will be donated to create 'school and classroom forests' where children can breathe comfortably.
Through this promotion, SK Gas plans to donate 10% of the points used by customers and collaborate with the social enterprise 'Triple Planet,' which runs a forest creation campaign to reduce fine dust, to establish 'SK Gas Happiness Recharge Forests' within elementary schools selected based on specific criteria.
The 'SK Gas Happiness Recharge Forests' to be created by SK Gas and Triple Planet will take the form of 'school and classroom forests.' The 'school forest' involves planting trees along school fences that effectively reduce fine dust, aiming to block pollutants from entering the school grounds. The 'classroom forest' concept places plant pots with excellent fine dust reduction effects in classroom spaces to create a pleasant study environment. The purpose of the 'SK Gas Happiness Recharge Forest' project is to provide children, who have difficulty engaging in outdoor activities due to COVID-19, with clean and comfortable school spaces where they can recharge their happy dreams.
An SK Gas representative stated, "Going forward, SK Gas will strive to reduce fine dust through Eco LPG and pursue social value. We plan to continuously expand the 'SK Gas Happiness Recharge Forest' project to help more children study in clean and healthy environments."
SK Gas has conducted various promotions targeting LPG refueling customers. The 'Eco Guard Insurance' promotion, which provides up to 1 million KRW to customers who are unable to continue their livelihoods due to COVID-19 infection, will run until September this year.
