On the 28th, according to the police, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul has booked and is investigating A (51), a naval lieutenant colonel, on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act and failure to take action after an accident.
Lieutenant Colonel A is accused of driving his car under the influence at around 10:30 p.m. the previous day, colliding with a taxi ahead of him in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, and then driving to his residence in Yeongdeungpo-gu without taking any separate measures. The taxi driver suffered minor injuries to his waist and other areas.
The police received a report that the vehicle fled after causing the accident and apprehended Lieutenant Colonel A, who was asleep inside the car in the underground parking lot of his residence about 1 hour and 20 minutes after the accident occurred. Lieutenant Colonel A's blood alcohol concentration was at the level of license suspension (between 0.03% and less than 0.08%). It is reported that Lieutenant Colonel A admitted to the charges.
The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
