Solving Elderly Issues and Revitalizing Communities through Cultural Content: The 'Evergreen Project' Selected as a New 2-Year Long-Term Task This Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk), focusing on leading cultural content, has been selected for the ‘Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project’ consortium type for three consecutive years.
On the 24th, Dongseo University announced that it was selected for the newly established long-term project this year and will operate the project for two years until December 2022 with a total support of 120 million KRW.
The Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project, hosted by the Busan Talent Lifelong Education Institute, is a project that utilizes the human and material infrastructure of universities in the Busan area to solve local issues and support universities to act as innovation hubs.
Dongseo University will launch the ‘Evergreen Project,’ focusing on solving elderly issues in the region.
The goal is to prevent solitary deaths by providing various hobbies and experiences to senior citizens in Gijang-gun, and to contribute to income generation and life stability by discovering jobs.
The project was planned by matching the elderly issues in Gijang-gun, identified through local government demand surveys, with Dongseo University’s top-level specialized fields related to film and video.
Dongseo University will promote △ Evergreen Film University △ Visiting Evergreen Performances △ Evergreen Village Media Education △ Evergreen Agency Operation △ Evergreen Idea Contest, among others.
An Evergreen Film Festival utilizing the results of detailed programs will also be held. The project involves Gijang-gun, Busan Viewer Media Foundation Busan Viewer Media Center, Busan Film Commission, Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and I.A.LAB.
Kim Hyung-woo, head of Dongseo University’s Regional Collaboration Center (Professor of the Department of Design), the project’s overall director, said, “Dongseo University has participated in the Community Win-Win Cooperation Project for three consecutive years since 2019, and it is even more meaningful to be selected for the newly established two-year long-term project this year.”
Director Kim added, “The newly introduced ‘Evergreen Project’ by Dongseo University is a planned project that matches film and video expertise with the needs of Gijang-gun, and in connection with the Busan Comprehensive Filming Studio scheduled to be completed in 2023, it will serve as a foundation for revitalizing the film and tourism sectors in Gijang-gun.”
