Season, Live Professional Baseball Broadcast
Regular Season Opens April 3
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT's online video service (OTT) Season announced on the 24th that it will live broadcast all games of the 2021 Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season, including preseason and regular season games.
Due to COVID-19, professional baseball games have been held without spectators, leading to a noticeable increase in the use of OTT broadcasts that can be enjoyed not only on TV but also on the go. Last season, the number of viewers watching the regular season live broadcasts through the app increased by 13% compared to the previous year, and viewing time increased by 19%.
This year, KT will provide the ‘Pro Baseball Live’ service on Season, allowing users to check various records in real time in line with the opening of the professional baseball season. This service will be available from the opening day of the KBO League. The KBO League preseason games will run until the 30th of this month, and the regular season will open on the 3rd of next month.
Pro Baseball Live collects videos and data of the teams and players you support and provides them in real time. By registering your favorite players, you can easily check videos and news related to those players. You can watch ‘pitcher vs. batter’ matchup data and pitch type analysis graphs while watching the baseball broadcast, and you can also gather your favorited highlight videos on My Page through the ‘Highlight Video Bookmark’ feature.
Live broadcasts of the professional baseball preseason games can be watched for free regardless of the telecom provider by simply logging in through Season’s ‘Category → Live TV → All Channels → Pro Baseball’. The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and One Store.
To commemorate the live broadcasts of the 2021 professional baseball preseason and regular season, KT is holding a prize event for customers. If you predict the winning team of the opening game on the Season app, you will be entered into a draw to win various prizes including the Galaxy Fit2.
Yoo Hyun-jung, Executive Director and Head of KT Mobile Media Business P-TF, said, “We hope baseball fans who find it difficult to enjoy baseball broadcasts on their living room TVs can comfortably and deeply enjoy the baseball season through Season. We will continue to live broadcast major events in various sports such as baseball, soccer, and golf so that people think of Season when it comes to sports live broadcasts.”
Meanwhile, Season provides live broadcasts of various sports events including baseball, soccer, and golf on its channels. It already broadcasts all games of the K League, which has started, and will live broadcast the men's national soccer team match against Japan on the 25th, the women's soccer Olympic playoff match against China scheduled for April, and the Spanish King's Cup final. It also offers major golf events such as the PGA Tour and World Golf Championships (WGC).
