[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] One employee working at a general restaurant on the first floor of Jeju Shilla Hotel, located in Jungmun Tourist Complex, Seogwipo City, Jeju, has tested positive for COVID-19. Accordingly, diagnostic tests will be conducted for about 500 hotel staff and others.

Jeju Province announced on the 17th that, according to the epidemiological investigation of the confirmed COVID-19 case, the infected person worked at the 'Lobby Lounge Badang' on the first floor of Jeju Shilla Hotel in Jungmun Tourist Complex from noon to 10:30 p.m. on the 15th, and from noon to 3 p.m. on the 16th.

Therefore, the province urged residents and tourists who visited the Lobby Lounge Badang during the infected person's working hours to receive a diagnostic test at a nearby public health center after a phone consultation, regardless of whether they show COVID-19 symptoms.

Test results are expected to be released sequentially starting from the afternoon of the 18th.

The province has completed all disinfection measures for the affected establishment.

Jeju Shilla Hotel stated in a customer notice on the same day, "According to the epidemiological investigation by health authorities, the employee was wearing a mask at all times during work and complied with personal hygiene and quarantine rules, so the risk of infection is confirmed to be low."

However, they added, "In accordance with the standards of the health authorities, PCR tests will be conducted for all employees to ensure the safety of customers and staff."

They also said, "Badang and Olle Bar have been immediately closed, and after disinfecting the entire building, they plan to reopen at noon on the 18th," adding, "Jeju Shilla Hotel will prioritize the safety of customers and employees and cooperate closely with health authorities."
