[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Congressman Lee Byung-hoon announced on the 9th that he held a policy discussion titled ‘Our Home Project Policy Forum’ to discuss solutions to the housing problems of ordinary citizens.
The Our Home Project, held the previous day at the Jeonil Building in Gwangju Metropolitan City, is a new concept housing project that Congressman Lee and local governments are jointly researching with the aim of overcoming current housing issues by applying the concept of the sharing economy to land and housing.
The core idea is that residents can move into rental apartments with minimal costs and interest rates, and after 10 years, purchase the home at the initial sale price.
Additionally, if tenants wish to continue renting, the project aims to allow long-term residency for up to 30 years.
At the event, Congressman Park Jung, who is leading the ‘Universe Home Project’ in Gyeonggi Province, and Kim Byung-chun, CEO of Synergy City Co., Ltd., who is practically promoting the ‘Anyone’s Home Project,’ a shared housing initiative on Yeongjong Island in Incheon, presented their cases.
Moreover, about 50 people, including Lim Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju, Kim Byung-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, and Noh Kyung-soo, CEO of Gwangju Urban Corporation, attended and engaged in a heated discussion.
Congressman Lee said, “Through the ‘Our Home Project,’ I hope that Gwangju, the city of democratization, will introduce innovative housing policies and create a groundbreaking opportunity to resolve housing problems for ordinary citizens.”
Congressman Park Jung stated, “The ‘Anyone’s Home Project’ promoted by Gyeonggi Province started from the simple wish that homeless citizens could all have a home,” adding, “I hope Gwangju will take the lead in advancing the next-generation project.”
