[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 9th that it will accept nominations for the '18th Daegu City Women’s Award' from the 10th to April 19th to discover women who have contributed to the improvement of women's status and the realization of a gender-equal society.
The 'Daegu City Women’s Award,' named the Magnolia Award from 2004 to 2016, is the highest honor in the local women's community, having produced a total of 33 recipients to date.
Last year, Park Yoon-kyung, CEO of KK Co., Ltd. (Vice President of the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association Daegu Branch), who took the lead in establishing a corporate culture of work-family balance, was honored with the award.
Daegu City will publicly recruit merit review committee members from experts in various fields such as women's organizations, academia, and social groups in June, and after the merit review committee, the final recipient will be decided. The award ceremony will be held on September 3rd during the Gender Equality Commemoration event.
Kang Myung-sook, Director of the Daegu City Women and Youth Education Bureau, said, "We award the 'Women’s Award' every year to honor the dedication of women who have contributed to the development of the local community and to serve as a role model for many people," and added, "Please actively recommend those who have contributed to the realization of a gender-equal society around you."
