[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-chul] Lee Jong-chan, Chairman of the Udang Education and Culture Foundation, gave a special lecture commemorating the 102nd anniversary of the March 1st Movement at the invitation of Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province.

At the lecture held on the 8th at the Lee Seok-young New Media Library under the theme "The Spirit of March 1st Independence Movement and the Identity of the Republic of Korea," Chairman Lee quoted Danchae Shin Chae-ho, emphasizing, "A nation that has lost its territory can be reborn, but a nation that has lost its history cannot be reborn."

He continued, "It is the duty of the descendants living in the present to understand history correctly and establish the legitimacy of the Republic of Korea," conveying the significance of the Declaration of Independence.

Chairman Lee, who is also the chairman of the National Provisional Government Memorial Hall Construction Committee, is the grandson of Udang Lee Hoe-young, the younger brother of Lee Seok-young.

Chairman Lee served as a four-term member of the National Assembly from 1981 to 1996 and later as the Director of the National Intelligence Service. He is also known as a proud descendant of an independence activist from Namyangju on the occasion of the March 1st Movement anniversary.

Meanwhile, the city plans to continue projects that highlight Lee Seok-young’s spirit of sacrifice for the homeland and forgotten history through the Lee Seok-young New Media Library, the Lee Seok-young Plaza opening in March, and the historical experience center Remember1910.
