[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 8th that it is recruiting temporary workers for the "Sea Environment Keeper Support Project" to preserve the clean natural scenery until the 26th of this month.

The Sea Environment Keepers are dedicated personnel responsible for the constant management of areas severely affected by marine debris. They are deployed along the coastline alongside environmental sanitation workers and perform tasks such as public guidance and monitoring of illegal dumping activities.

Last year, the county deployed Sea Environment Keepers to areas with high marine debris inflow, conducting surveillance and garbage collection activities along 107 km of coastline, collecting 372 tons of marine debris. They also received positive responses from residents by responding quickly to complaints.

This year, the county plans to invest 320 million won in the project, allocating appropriate personnel by region according to the length of the coastline and the degree of marine debris inflow, and intends to hire 24 Sea Environment Keepers in five myeon (Cheonggye, Hyeongyeong, Mangu, Haeje, Unnam).

Applicants must be residents of Muan-gun aged 19 or older and must not have any disqualifications under the county’s temporary worker employment regulations. Any resident meeting these criteria can apply.

Applications are being accepted at the five myeon offices (Cheonggye, Hyeongyeong, Mangu, Haeje, Unnam) until the 26th. After interviews, the final candidates will be selected and will manage and operate the entire coastline within the county starting in April.

A county official stated, “Although we are promoting various projects including marine debris collection, the most important factor is the voluntary participation of residents and tourists. Through the operation of Sea Environment Keepers, we will clean up islands, fishing villages, and ports to create attractive spaces for residents and visitors.”
