Hong Nam-ki: "LH Scandal, a Serious Issue for the Public Service to Reflect on... Requires Special Vigilance"

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, said on the 8th, "The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) incident is a serious issue that the public service community must deeply reflect on."

Deputy Prime Minister Hong held an expanded executive meeting at the Government Sejong Complex in the afternoon and said, "The deviant behavior of individual public officials is not just a personal issue but can affect the trust in the organization they belong to and the policies they are responsible for, so special vigilance is required." He added, "Please always keep in mind the old saying emphasizing integrity, Gyeongoesaji (敬畏四知: one must fear that at least heaven, earth, oneself, and others know about any matter)."

He also emphasized, "We will actively and unwaveringly promote the previously announced real estate measures such as the August 4th Supply Plan, November 19th Jeonse Plan, and February 4th Supply Plan."

Regarding the LH incident, Deputy Prime Minister Hong held a briefing the day before and apologized to the public together with Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Byeon Chang-heum as the head of the economy. In relation to this, at the meeting on the same day, he asked the staff, "Please prepare the agenda so that follow-up measures can be specifically discussed at this week's 'Real Estate Market Inspection Ministerial Meeting.'"

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Hong ordered thorough preparation for active response and prompt execution in the future regarding the National Assembly review of the supplementary budget (Chugyeong) worth 15 trillion won, which started this week.
