[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] The first dose of COVID-19 vaccinations in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, is progressing smoothly with about 660 people vaccinated as of the 8th.


According to the Muan-gun Public Health Center, the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines arrived on the 26th of last month, and starting from the 2nd, vaccinations were administered to residents and workers of nursing hospitals such as Jeongdaun Nursing Hospital, Muan Silver Small-scale Nursing Home, and Hanseung Silver Care Nursing Home.


The target group for this first dose includes nursing hospitals and facilities, and workers at COVID-19 treatment hospitals. Vaccinations began on the 2nd and currently show an overall vaccination rate of 70%.


So far, the vaccination rate for nursing hospitals is 94.1%, and for nursing facilities, it is 42.1%. Vaccinations are expected to be completed by the 12th for 1,065 nursing hospital workers and users.


A representative from the Muan-gun Public Health Center stated, “There have been a total of 8 reports of vaccine adverse reactions, 6 of which were mild symptoms. The remaining 2 cases involved high fever, chills, and muscle pain, but these symptoms improved over time, and so far, no significant abnormalities related to the vaccine have been observed.”


Governor Kim San said, “We have established a close cooperative system with related organizations to ensure that vaccinations proceed smoothly according to the government’s plan. Even after vaccinations, we ask everyone to strictly adhere to quarantine rules such as social distancing until COVID-19 is completely eradicated.”


Meanwhile, Muan-gun is currently administering the first dose with a total of 1,300 doses distributed to the public health center and five nursing hospitals, with additional vaccine supplies expected in the future.
