[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] It has been reported that MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, has remarried a private school science teacher in Seattle, USA. Bezos is also aware of this and is reportedly positive about their remarriage.
On the 7th (local time), the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) cited sources to report that Scott remarried Dan Juett, a science teacher at a private school in Seattle. According to the report, Juett recently joined the charitable organization "Giving Pledge," saying, "By a happy coincidence, I married one of the most generous and kind people I know," expressing his intention to participate in Scott's commitment to use her vast wealth for others. Scott is known to be living in Seattle with her four children and her husband Dan.
The Giving Pledge is a charitable organization established in 2010, led by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates, to promote the return of wealth to society by the wealthy. More than 200 celebrities are members of this organization. Previously, in 2019, when the affair between her husband Bezos and former TV anchor Lauren Sanchez was reported, Scott joined the Giving Pledge after their amicable divorce and announced that she would donate more than half of her wealth.
She received about 4% of Amazon shares as a divorce settlement from Bezos and has engaged in various charitable activities since the divorce, donating nearly $6 billion last year alone. According to Bloomberg News, Scott's current wealth is about $53.5 billion (approximately 60.4 trillion KRW), ranking her as the 22nd richest person in the world.
According to Bloomberg News, Bezos also expressed in a statement sent to WSJ regarding Scott's remarriage, "Dan is a wonderful person, and I am happy because of both of them."
