Singer Psy's hit song "Gangnam Style" music video has surpassed 4 billion views on YouTube.
The music video exceeded 4 billion views on YouTube around 12:30 PM on the 7th. This is the first time a Korean singer's single song has achieved this record. Released in July 2012, it set a new milestone after 8 years and 7 months.
On the same day, Psy posted an image commemorating the 4 billion views of "Gangnam Style" on social media (SNS). He expressed gratitude by tagging YG Entertainment, his agency during the promotion of this song, Scooter Braun who supported his activities in the U.S., Republic Records, and P Nation accounts.
"Gangnam Style" is the song that elevated Psy to global stardom. It was a hit, reaching number 2 on the U.S. Billboard main singles chart "Hot 100." The music video also played a significant role in its popularity. It surpassed 1 billion views 161 days after its release and became the first video in YouTube history to exceed 2 billion views in May 2014. After reaching 3 billion views in November 2017, it took about 3 years and 3 months to surpass 4 billion views.
This year, marking his 20th debut anniversary, Psy established the comprehensive management company P Nation and is actively working as a producer. The artists under his label include HyunA, Dawn, Crush, Jessi, and Heize.
